How to use

Community & public

MARHABA is the community side of the Wisdom Masjid app. After signing in with your phone number you can follow up to three masjids, see their prayer times, news, projects and calendar, watch videos, give donations, Zakat and Fitr Zakat, apply to the masjid's wings, and, if your masjid has you in its member register, see your family's dues and receipts and pay them. Receipts, statements and event pages that a masjid shares as a link open for anyone, without an account.

What MARHABA is

MARHABA is the part of the Wisdom Masjid app made for the community. Masjid staff use the same app with a staff sign-in; you use the Community sign-in. The installed app is called Masjid on your phone and the sign-in screen says Wisdom Masjid; the community screens inside it are what we call MARHABA. It is free for you to use. What you see depends on the masjids you follow: their prayer times, news, projects and campaigns, wings, forms, calendar and videos, plus organisation-wide news and events from Wisdom.

Signing in with your phone

Open the app and choose Community at the top of the sign-in card. Enter your mobile number (pick the country first if it is not India) and tap Send code on WhatsApp. A code arrives on WhatsApp; type it in the Code box. The first time, also fill in Your name (first time only), then tap Verify. There is no password and no separate sign-up: the first time you verify a number, your MARHABA account is made. If you typed the wrong number, tap Change number. If the Wisdom Guide already knows your number, parts of your profile are filled in for you. To sign out, open Me and tap Sign out at the bottom.

Finding your way around

On a phone, five tabs sit at the bottom: Home, Masjids, Calendar, Videos and Me. The bell at the top of Home and Me opens your Notifications. Forms, the prayer times for the week and video players open as sheets that slide up from the bottom; swipe down or tap outside to close them. On a computer the same screens open in a narrow column in the middle of the window with the same five tabs at the bottom; there is no side menu on the community side.

Installing on your phone

Open the app at your site address followed by /app (for example the link your masjid shared; the address without /app is the public website with videos and help). The app works in the browser, but it is nicer installed. On Android in Chrome, open the app, tap the ⋮ menu and choose Add to Home screen (or Install app). On an iPhone in Safari, tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. An icon called Masjid appears on your home screen and opens full screen. When a new version is ready, a blue bar appears near the bottom; tap Reload. If you lose internet, a dark bar at the bottom says you are offline.

English and Malayalam

Switch between English and മലയാളം on the sign-in screen (bottom right), or later in Me → Language. Your choice is saved to your account. Masjid names, news, forms and videos show in Malayalam where the masjid has written a Malayalam version, and in English otherwise. Public receipt and statement pages have their own language button at the top right.

Privacy: what masjids can and cannot see

A masjid sees only what you send to it. When you give or pay dues, the masjid's treasurer sees your name and phone number, the amount, your reference number and your payment screenshot, because they need these to check the payment. When you apply on a form, the masjid sees your name, phone, your answers and the files you attach; answers marked sensitive (for example medical or income details) are shown only to the staff allowed to see them. Masjids do not get a list of their followers, and they cannot see your profile details (email, date of birth, job, organisation), your family list, the other masjids you follow, or what you gave to other masjids. Following a masjid only means its notifications for followers reach you. The Wisdom team that runs the platform can see the list of app users so it can block misuse.
